About
Welcome to Wandering Fox Journeys, a travel design studio born from my lifelong love of immersive, meaningful exploration. I’m Alissa, a recently retired French teacher from Madison, Wisconsin, and an avid traveler. After more than two decades organizing student trips to France and teaching thousands of students about the French language and the cultures of the Francophone world, I’m now channeling that passion into creating unforgettable journeys for curious, thoughtful travelers like you.

Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, Scotland

Paris, France
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to live in different parts of the U.S. and in France, and to explore several countries around the world. I’ve always loved diving deep into the culture and history of the places I visit, but I also found immense joy in planning the details. What started with student trips soon expanded into designing custom travel for friends and family. Their enthusiastic responses, and the realization that this kind of planning lit me up, sparked the idea for Wandering Fox Journeys.
The experiences I craft reflect my own travel style: independent, immersive, and guided by curiosity. Inspired by the Fox in The Little Prince, I believe the most meaningful journeys invite us to see with the heart: to connect deeply with places and people, not just check sights off a list. To this end, I focus on thoughtfully chosen boutique stays, select insightful local guides, and meticulously-researched food experiences that bring a destination to life, such as cooking classes, standout restaurants, and authentic market experiences.
